The GH DJs Take Over

Ghana is preparing for one of her biggest nights on the entertainment calendar, "Tigo Ghana Meets Naija" and my highlight for the night will be the battle between DJs representing both sides. My bet will so much be on the Ghanaian DJ because gradually, Ghana's DJs are taking center stage in her entertainment. With the estalishment and growing popularity of the Ghana DJ Awards, the DJ trade is set to hit its utmost best in the near future.

The art of turn tablelism is the next big thing to look out for and when that moment arrives, "the boys will surely be separated from the men. You may disagree with me but gone is the time when the music made the party,in this era, the ruler of the party is the DJ. How the music is played is now the ish - evident in the new status of DJs have assume in Ghanaian entertainment. DJs are selling out shows, being signed unto record labels, going on tours with major music acts and sellling records of their own mixes.

With more women plying the trade now the best is yet to come. DJ Kess, DJ MJ, DJ Nyce, DJ Ella Deevah are amongst the many ladies that have marvelled party people with their performances.

To appreciate my fuss about the evolution of DJs in Ghana, you should pay more attention to music transitions, mixing and song choices at events. If you are disappointed by what you hear, then u probably met a beginner. Ghana has grown in the DJ art and can boast of sensational DJs who don't only know what the party people want, but also knows how to raise the energy in the building to maximum level. It takes a lot of timing and expertise for good DJs to know the exact or right time to cue the exact or appropriate song.

A DJ could be mixing a popular new song and suddenly mix a 90s old jam into it and will result in an epic mix. Mostly DJs talents are not appreciated as much because music technology has made it possible for everyone to call his or herself a DJ. But there are actually good DJs in our world who should be appreciated day in day out for their efforts in controlling parties and getting everyone turnt. Music is such a soothing drug so the right DJ knows the right "prescription" listeners will need.

The evolution of the status of DJ is soon going to be a topic that grabs the attention of many with DJs becoming producers of party bangers, notable among the lot being DJ Breezy producer of hit songs "Shelele" and "My woman, my everything." Others have opted to remake hits just to suit their style and get noticed, Sheldon The Turn Up's "Hotline Ting," DJ Micsmith's remix of Rihana's "Work" and Justin Bieber's "Sorry," are taking over the party.

DJs have become mentors and icons to the youth world wide. Internationally, DJs like Armin van Buuren, Deadmau5, David Guetta, Tiësto and many more are making the waves. Ghana now has a fair share of world class DJs and we should look out for them. If you doubt this then you surely haven't heard DJ Black, DJ Vyrusky, DJ Mensah, DJ Micsmith and Nii Ayi Tagoe.
